The wife of House Speaker Paul Ryan has expressed interest in running for president in 2020, her husband’s office confirmed to ABC News.
Paul Ryan’s office declined to comment on whether the Wisconsin Republican was in fact running for a second term, saying only, “As his wife, I’m honored and humbled to be part of his team.”
His wife, Jill, was first elected to Congress in 2012 and is a strong supporter of the House Republican Conference, the Republican National Committee, and President Donald Trump.
A former law clerk to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), she is a former member of the Armed Services Committee and former White House legislative liaison to Rep. Ryan.
She serves as vice chair of the Republican Study Committee, a key House caucus.
Jill is also a member of The Ringer’s editorial board, and has previously penned columns on politics, sports, and pop culture.
